Count your blessings.

So, this has been BY FAR my best season sea fishing, even though it’s been trimmed in half already.

There’s something about sea fishing that for me makes every session unforgettable. The blanks? A learning curve. Epic captures? A confidence booster, and sometimes for me, certain catches have literally made me feel like I’m floating on air for weeks at a time.

My first trip up to St Osyth targetting stingers, the stars aligned and I caught this absolutely enormous specimen on a spare £15 bass rod and was lucky enough to have all my children and mrs with me and for anyone that knows me its hard to explain what this capture meant to me. It still gives me butterflies now and I can remember every split second from the first steps onto the beach that day to the last.

a possible uk record !!!

I’ve only had a few blanks this year and have fished a hell of a lot, but I’m still humbled and left scratching my head when I don’t produce.

Taking my dad fishing is the best. The absolute best. I always make sure he has as good gear as possible. Recently, I got him a lovely pair of Cobra GT 3 pieces and a pair of Penn battle 8000s, so I KNEW he was set for anything.

He’s had his pb bass with me, his first smoothhounds, first rays, a lot of firsts. First trips to new venues. It’s like I’m finally giving him an insight into what I’ve picked up , he was very hesitant to venture away from the Thames. But boy , he’s glad he did !!

pb bass for my dad , Daniel
first ray, for someone into their marine fishkeeping, he was in awe of the beauty of this species we have !!! Perfection in miniature

And my son has had a fair few fish this year to. Hes 7. And has the most constant nag inside of him to fish that i’ve ever seen, adult or child !

another thorny for the boy
my two eldest boys and me with a nice little shark.
all by himself, this one gave a wicked fight all the qay to the deck!!
one of his sea angler pictures !
, big or small, he loves them all…

Its just been a smasher of a year, and we, like everyone, have had some waft times.

Just please everyone, i had some recent unexpected very tragic news regarding a friend.

Count your blessings.

Not your bites.

Tight lines everyone , and even if theyre not , enjoy your time out after this awful period.
